38mm deep super wide carbon wheels for disc brake road and gravel bikes using 30mm or wider tyres. Handbuilt in the UK by a professional wheelbuilder rather than by a machine. Rims are disc specific Carbonal 100% carbon fibre'U' shaped. Made from the latest Mitsubishi Toray T700 carbon fibre all the way through. The core is 3k carbon weave and the rims have a UD (plain matt black) outer layer.

The rims are designed for modern wide tyres and are 28mm wide at the outside, 38mm deep aero section and 30mm wide at the mid-point in the section. The increased width gives a bigger contact area for the tyre on the road, improves the aero performance by being the same width as the now common 30mm tyre size and improves ride quality. The rims are 24mm internal width and hookless. They MUST be used with tubeless type tyres.

A tube can be fitted if desired but the tyre itself must be a TL or TLR type. Max recommended tyre pressure 80psi. Suitable for road/gravel/CX tyres 30mm and wider. Choice of centrelock or 6 bolt disc hubs by Novatec. Standard road/MTB bike dimensions of 100mm wide with choice of QR, 9mm (6 bolt only), 12mm or 15mm fittings. 24 or 28 spoke holes, These are light and strong weighing only 136g to 156g depending in disc type and axle size. 2 x high quality sealed bearings.

Standard disc brake dimensions of 135mm wide with choice of QR, 10x135TA (6 bolt only) or 12x142TA axles. 24 or 28 spoke holes. These lightweight hubs weigh 260g-275g depending on version.

4 x high quality sealed bearings. The freehub is Shimano/SRAM 11 speed road compatible and comes with an alloy spacer to allow use of 9/10 speed Shimano or SRAM cassettes. Campag and SRAM XDR freehubs available as a no cost option. The 24/24 0r 28/28 spokes are super high quality Belgian made silver Sapim CX Ray bladed spokes in silver fastened by silver Sapim 14mm alloy nipples. CX Ray spokes are among the lightest spokes available but have great strength and aero properties.

Unfortunately they are also rather expensive! Cheaper wheelsets built in the Far East generally use much cheaper and less efficient spokes. The wheels are built using a 2x/2x pattern for strength and reliable power transmission. Total wheelset weight of the set pictured is around 1500g. Please note that the wheels in the photos are a custom set and have the optional black spokes and black spoke nipples - see below. Campag, SRAM XD or SRAM XDR freehub - same cost. All our wheels are handbuilt to the same high standards. The wheels are trued to within +or- 0.2mm and spokes uniformly tensioned to within 5% a side.
